Just as two veterans, two survivors.
Here, in one of the gorgeous room of the Museo di Capodimonte, Naples, we are all waiting in line, waiting in silence to show them our deepest and sincere affection. We are here to admire the strokes of the brush, and also to cacth sight of the grains of sands mixed in the painting “View of the sea at Scheveningen” (1882).
Their story is moving, and that add a plus to their beauty.
Toghether with the other painting “Congregation leaving the Reformed Church in Nuenen” (1884), these are the two Van Gogh’s stolen paintings, missed and fortunately recovered in the end. Now they are safe, and are about to come back home.
They are very intimate paintings, influenced by family issues and maybe it is because of their small size that the majestic paintings surrounding them seem to me as elder brothers ready to protect them.

“E l’emozione della loro bellezza
aumenta al pensiero della loro storia”.
Come due reduci, due sopravvissuti. E’ per manifestare loro questo affetto spontaneo che siamo tutti qui, in fila, in religioso silenzio in una delle grandi sale del Museo di Capodimonte a Napoli, per poter ammirare le sfumature delle pennellate e i granelli di sabbia finiti nel quadro “Spiaggia di Scheveningen prima di una tempesta” (1882).
E l’emozione della loro bellezza aumenta al pensiero della loro storia.
Questo insieme all’altro “ Una congregazione lascia la chiesa riformata di Nuenen” (1884) sono i due dipinti di Van Gogh rubati, dati per dispersi e poi finalmente ritrovati. Ora sono al sicuro e stanno per ritornare a casa. Sono dipinti intimi, con forti significati familiari e sarà per il loro formato ridotto ma i maestosi dipinti che li circondano mi sembrano fratelli maggiori pronti a difenderli.

I couldn’t believe that I could start reading the book I have been waiting for so long. Waiting for since ever, simply because nobody had written it before.
Those are the exact words I told the author Giorgio Dell’Arti, writer and journalist, during his “ Bibbia pagana” book signing held at Atelier Bomba in Rome.
The ambience is soft and chic.
We take our seats around the big table in the Sartoria, transformed in an elegant and fancy drawing room for the occasion. Bookshelves along the walls contains scraps of precious fabrics: silk, cachemire and cotton are shown in their beautiful shades of colours and …
Behave Laura, I tell myself, don’t dare touch no matter how strong the temptation.
The author looks around at the guests: many of them are friends and colleagues, but there is also someone like me who is here only by chance and curiosity.
The red haired head couldn’t possibly pass unnoticed: our guest, Cristina Bomba, stylist, is wearing one of her creations, such a beautiful dress whose elegance is out of time, and recall the image of the goddess whose stories we are about to hear. She welcome us with gourmet treats such as ginger lemon and cucumber flavoured sparkling water and the typical Carnevale’s sweets.
Suddenly silence fills the air when Angelo Bucarelli, artist, exhibitions’ curator and events’ planner, takes a seat near the author. He has the duty to open the book signing by reading one extract of the novel.
Time goes by quickly, the author takes the microphone and start reading parts of the text. His voice captures our attention while he reads about gods and goddess and all their stories that finally are reunited in a single novel.
Listening to Giorgio Dell’Arti voice unravelling those stories has been like a journey out of time and space, far away the chaos of the city centre and the Chinese New Year Eve fireworks. And one comes back from this beautiful journey with the mind and all senses fulfilled.

“L’ambiente è ovattato,
profumato e chic”.
L’ho aperto appena arrivata a casa. Non riuscivo a credere di poter iniziare a leggere il libro che avevo tanto aspettato. Aspettato da sempre, direi, perché nessuno lo aveva ancora mai scritto.
Ed è proprio quello che ho detto all’autore, Giorgio Dell’Arti, scrittore e giornalista, durante la presentazione del suo ultimo libro “ Bibbia pagana”, presso l’Atelier Bomba a Roma. L’ambiente è ovattato, profumat0 e chic. Ci accomodiamo intorno al grande tavolo della Sartoria, che si rivela un salotto elegante e sofisticato, le scaffalature che corrono lungo le pareti accolgono scampoli di stoffe preziose e raffinate dalle tante sfumature: sete, cachemire e cotoni si mostrano quel tanto che basta a suscitare la voglia di allungare furtivamente le mani per toccarli… Ma certo che non si fa. Eppure la tentazione è forte. Lo sguardo dell’autore si muove curioso e veloce tra gli ospiti che continuano ad entrare, molti li conosce già, sono amici e colleghi, ma c’è anche qualcuno come me, arrivato alla presentazione per fato e curiosità. La chioma ramata non passa inosservata: la nostra ospite, la stilista Cristina Bomba, indossa una delle sue creazioni, uno splendido abito dalle linee destrutturate, di una eleganza oltre ogni moda, e richiama l’immagine di una delle dee di cui stiamo per ascoltare le storie. Ci accoglie con attenzioni ricercate e golose, che anticipano i nostri desideri: decorano infatti il tavolo una brocca d’acqua con sentori di limone, cetriolo e zenzero, e piccoli vassoi con dolci di carnevale.
Si fa subito silenzio quando si accomoda accanto all’autore Angelo Bucarelli, artista e professionista eclettico, curatore di mostre, progettista di eventi culturali, noto anche per la sua eleganza dandy, eccentrica e ricercata. Ed è lui il maestro di cerimonie che ha il compito di aprire la presentazione e lo fa, con grande fascino ed ironia, leggendo un primo estratto. Il tempo scorre veloce, la parola passa all’autore, che legge e commenta alcuni passaggi del libro. L’attenzione è assoluta, ascoltiamo rapiti le storie intrecciate di questi dèi, o meglio “padri” e “madri” come vengono definiti nel libro, storie che si ritrovano finalmente riunite in un unico romanzo.
Ascoltare la narrazione dalla voce suadente e pacata di Giorgio Dell’Arti, è stato come fare un viaggio a sorpresa nel tempo e nello spazio, lontano dal caos delle vie del centro e dai botti del Capodanno cinese. E dalla bellezza di questo viaggio si torna con la mente appagata e con tutti i sensi rigenerati. Sì, anche il tatto.
